Drum Kit Lessons
Who Does Andrew Work With?
Andrew works with anyone from complete beginners looking to find their groove, to people who once learned and want to rediscover their groove!
Andrew also teaches students wishing to sit Graded Examinations in the Drum Kit.
What can I expect from my sessions?
During your first session, Andrew will have a chat with you about your musical tastes and will begin to learn what you would like to get from your lessons.
As every student is different and will be at different milestones in their drum kit abilities, every lesson will be planned with the student, and their goals, in mind! While veery student may not wish to pursue graded examinations, your lessons will follow some of the material as this provides a good basis upon which to hone in on your skills, technique and ability.
Each session will involve:
- Warm Up Exercises
- Introductions to new Rudiments
- Work on material from Graded Syllabus, or a song you want to get grooving to!
- Work on reading rhythm and drum kit notation
Remember: these sessions are yours to use as you wish. Andrew will always have content planned for you however, if there is something particular that you are wanting to look at, let him know and your wish will be his command!
How long will my sessions be?
Sessions are available to be booked for 45 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes.
What Drum Kit do you have?
For teaching, I use a top-of-the-range Acoustic Design electronic drum kit – the Roland VAD506 (pictured below)
With it’s impressive looks, familiar layout and inspiring playability of a high-end acoustic kit, the VAD506 is the closest you can get to the real thing – without playing the real thing, of course!
Where is your studio?
My studio is based at my home in Warlingham. I have a private teaching room complete with refreshments.
