What will I learn in my lessons?
Here is a snapshot of just some of the things you will learn throughout your sax lessons with Andrew Jay’s School of Music:
- How to produce a great sound – so you can easily produce a rich, powerful tone regardless of your ability level.
- Understanding the basics – so you can apply them to new songs and pieces you learn.
- Learn/improve your reading – so you can play more music you like independently
- Sharpen your improvisation skills – to help you develop your sense of musicality to put you in good stead when you join bands!
- Advanced Concepts – for advanced players, you will dive into the depths of advanced saxophone techniques, repertoire and harmonic language to enhance your playing and improve your musicianship.
Do I need to buy a saxophone?
As we currently offer saxophone lessons online only, you will need to have your own instrument. Having your own trumpet allows you to fully participate in each lesson, practice between sessions, and become comfortable with your setup, helping you make steady progress.
We also recommend purchasing a music stand, as it will make practicing at home much easier and help you maintain good posture while playing.
If you need any advice on choosing the right trumpet or music stand, your teacher will be happy to guide you and recommend trusted brands or local shops to help you find the right equipment for your needs and budget.
